Writing copy that makes people engaged is all about structure and word choice.

As you will find out in this article there are words that can help you do that.

Do you want people to keep reading? Here are six words that will get people interested in your message, guaranteed.

Credit where credit’s due.

I found out about this information whilst reading an introductory book written by Andy Maslen called Write To Sell. It’s packed with nice tips and insights about how copywriting works.

Let’s start!

1. Easy

People are inherently lazy.

This is what I’ve found out along the way. People want easy fixes to their problems. They want the final result and not so much the work and time something requires to get there.

Present your product or service as an easy solution to their problems. You will be more than likely to get them interested that way.

If you can promise to make things happen for them while they sit back with a beer and a good book, they’ll thank you for it. So show them that buying from you is effortless.

2. Quick

This is closely tied with things being easy. Time is our most valuable resource.

Nobody wants to waste hours upon hours doing something that is not guaranteed to work for them.

Think about it.

You want your food delivered quickly.

You want to be able to pay quickly at the cash register.

Waiting sucks. Make it quick.

3. Free

FREE is powerful in copy for a reason.

Before someone gives you their hard-earned money they want reassurance. That’s one of the reasons why lots of digital products offer a FREE 14-day trial or FREE bonuses.

Use FREE with care. There can be instances where people will be skeptical or think to themselves — “Yeah, well what’s the catch?”

Adapt using FREE to the medium and context of your offer.

4. Now

It’s used in calls to action. I’m sure you’ve seen “ORDER NOW”, “BUY NOW” and other offers involving NOW.

It gives off a sense of urgency and of immediate action.

If something wasn’t available before, using “now” offers a solution to the consumer’s problem.

For instance: Before it was a far-fetched dream, now it can be your reality.

5. Please

Being polite speaks volumes to a person that first meets you. So using a please here and there won’t hurt to get in good graces with your prospect.

6. Guarantee

This one ties with human psychology. Uncertainty is not pleasant and is something most people want to avoid at all costs.

When you buy something you want to have some assurance that if the product breaks or should it not work for you there will be a refund or replacement.

I’m sure you’ve come upon copy that reads “30-days money-back guarantee”.

Companies revert to this tactic to reduce some of the consumer’s fears of potential losses and assure them of premium quality.

You cannot predict with certainty that a product might work for a person, giving them a refund alleviates the fear of committing to a purchase.

All you’re saying is, “My product might not work for you. If that happens you get a refund.” What they hear is, “My product will work for you.”

Final Thoughts

There you have it! The six powerful words that can spruce up and make your copy appealing to the prospect.

After all, the best tactic is to picture and get a good overview of your target audience. See the words they use, what they like, and the interests they share.

Adapt your copy to reflect a connection with the user.

People will be more drawn and secure in dealing with a company that reflects their values back to them.
